PCS places a high priority on cultivating our students’ musical and dramatic abilities. Each year, the students’ talents are showcased at the annual Sunshine State Association of Christian Schools Fine Arts Competition hosted by Clearwater Christian College in Clearwater, Florida. This event highlights our bands, choruses, choirs, ensembles, soloists and drama students. In addition to the many live performances, student artwork is also on display.
Over the years, the students involved in the Fine Arts program at Providence Christian School have won many awards at the State as well as National level.
The Band Program emphasizes the role of instrumental music in the educational development of young people. The program seeks to emphasize that God gives talents in the areas of music. Students are encouraged to develop and use these talents for the education of Christian communities and for public witness in the world. The Band Directors place emphasis on the grace of God in the lives of students through developing their special talents for the glory of God.
Over the past 40 years, the PCS Band has won numerous awards in competitions among Christian schools at the state and national level.
This award winning band program is also available on the beginner, intermediate, and advanced concert level. Instruments may be rented or purchased and private lessons are offered for a fee in piano, brass, woodwind, and percussion as time and staff permits. These lessons are available during school hours.
Music is often said to be the universal language and the basis of human life. The PCS choir consists of many voices combined together as one to sing and spread joy to others, giving God all the glory. These students have the opportunity to sing in chapel services, perform in several concerts during the school year and participate in state and national competitions.
The choir program at Providence has won numerous awards in competitions among Christian schools at the state and national level. This level of excellence is achieved only by the dedicated efforts of experienced and talented teaching staff as well as the many hours of practice supplied by the students who wish to perfect their God given talents for the glory of the Lord.
